Nutrition & DNA Testing
Personalised nutritional therapy informed by functional assessment and genetic insight.
“The forces that steal the life from your food, steal also the life from your body. The forces that give life to your food give life also to your body. Therefore, choose the forces that give life to your food and body.” Quote from the Essenes 2nd century BC
What is Nutrition and DNA Testing?
We now understand that the gut/brain axis and our DNA play a vital role in both physical and mental health.
At FLOW, our extremely experienced Nutritional Therapist, Kate Chaytor Norris, explores this with clients by simplifying advanced science and translating it into practical, impactful solutions.
The body is a deeply interconnected system, and symptoms rarely arise from a single cause.
For example:
· Headaches may relate to liver or blood sugar imbalance
· Allergies often originate in the gut, which houses much of the immune system
When symptoms become chronic, multiple systems are often involved.
Nutritional Therapy takes a whole-person approach rather than focusing on isolated symptoms.
Kate explores the body’s key systems — digestive, immune, metabolic, hormonal and neurological — to understand where imbalance has developed and what may have contributed to it.
Identifies genetic predispositions & blueprints
Optimizes metabolic & energy pathways
Balances the gut-brain axis for better mood stability
Personalizes long-term wellbeing protocols
What is included?
Nutritional therapy includes exploration of:
· Digestive health
· Immune function
· Metabolic balance
· Hormonal regulation
· Neurological function
DNA testing provides insight into:
· Methylation pathways
· Neurotransmitter metabolism
· Detoxification capacity
· Stress response genetics
Testing is arranged via saliva swab and analysed to guide personalised supplementation and dietary recommendations.
Why does it help?
Methylation plays a central role in:
· Gene expression
· Mood regulation
· Detoxification
· Energy production
· Nervous system balance
When methylation is impaired — due to genetics, stress, nutrition or environmental factors — mood, energy, stress resilience and physical health may be affected.
Genetic insight reduces guesswork and enables targeted, evidence-informed interventions aligned with individual biochemistry.
This allows support to work with the body’s natural processes rather than against them.
Who does this support?
Adults and young people experiencing:
· Chronic fatigue
· Mood instability
· Digestive challenges
· Allergies or immune imbalance
· Hormonal fluctuations
· Persistent or unexplained symptoms
It is especially helpful where multiple systems appear to be involved.
What to expect at FLOW
· Nutrition consultations last approximately 60 minutes
· DNA testing is arranged via saliva swab
· Results are reviewed as part of a personalised plan
Recommendations may include dietary changes, targeted supplementation and supportive lifestyle adjustments.
Costs:
Initial consultation – 60-90 mins – £180 (including analysis of genetic test results if appropriate)
Follow up – £30-90 depending on length of session.
Suitability & Considerations
Nutritional Therapy and DNA testing are supportive wellbeing tools and not diagnostic medical interventions.
All recommendations are discussed collaboratively, and individual medical history is taken into account.

"I had no idea the nervous system played such a big role in how we feel, function and react to life. WOW!"
